Christmas Greetings from The Hydeaway

Holiday Closure Notice

Please note that the Hydeaway café and boutique accommodation will be closed from 1pm on 23 December until 12pm on 27 December, allowing our family team time to rest and recharge over Christmas.

We wish all our customers, suppliers, neighbours, and the wider local community a wonderful holiday break filled with time spent with loved ones.

We’re delighted to welcome Daniela to the Hydeaway team. Danni is a qualified massage therapist offering Swedish and Sports massages, available for up to five hours a day — perfect for cyclists, travelers, or locals needing some recovery time. A Busy Season Taking Shape

Our café soft launch continues to find its rhythm, with coffees, house baking, toasted sandwiches, soups, and light meals proving popular. We’re currently open 9am–5pm, seven days a week, with a deliberate focus on getting the foundations right. We will review this over Xmas period.

Accommodation is now welcoming guests, with wonderful early feedback on the relaxed charm, hospitality, and delicious, homely food options. Cyclists now have a dedicated EV charging station in place as well.

With our liquor licence now in place, it’s been a pleasure seeing guests enjoy a cold drink on the verandah or enjoying our signature Pinot Noir after a day on the Otago Rail Trail.

What’s Ahead

  • Expanded café seating coming soon, with more space, atmosphere, and music
  • Continued growth in local partnerships
  • And excitingly, we’ve just been awarded Heritage funding, with restoration works set to resume in early February, supporting the careful preservation of this much-loved 1927 building
The Hydeaway is coming alive — steadily, thoughtfully, and with deep community roots.
Thank you for being part of the journey, and we look forward to welcoming you back over the summer.
